Roy Buchanan, conhecido como "o melhor guitarrista desconhecido do mundo", mestre da Fender Telecaster, era parte importantíssima de qualquer publicação sobre grandes guitarristas no início dos anos 70.
Roy deu uma parada na sua carreira e, quando parecia que ia voltar, depois de uma briga familiar, foi preso em Reston, Virginia. Roy Buchanan foi encontrado morto numa cela da delegacia para onde foi levado, enforcado na própria camiseta, no dia 14 de Agosto de 1988.
Sua morte é coberta de mistérios e muitos não acreditam na tese de suicídio ele tinha 48 anos de idade.
